I use it as a base for several watercolors at the same time. They are cool! I could probably keep costs down by carving my own from a hardware store, but who has the time and all the equipment? They're affordable and well cut (smooth edges) so I'm very happy with them. I will order more.

Each board is packed in plastic. I left that packet, put Canson 9x12 watercolor paper on top and painted over. I used painters tape to tape the edges of my paper and then carefully peeled it off and the plastic didn't tear. I like having something I can use to move my painting and look at things from a different angle. It's thick enough not to bend, but if I'm not careful it could easily snap in half without much effort. Love it!

If you're looking for a similar replacement for the typical commercial hardboard used by most artists, then this isn't it. However, if you're looking for something cheap, disposable, and not very precisely cut (most have a half-inch offset and some have slightly angled cuts), this might work.
