Works great! You can see the sides are a little but a lot better than other products. Unlike fogged lenses, they work well even in bright sunlight.

Yes it is an IFR Canopy that obscures the view except for the classic little hole in the left corner but your instructor should allow you to use it for IFR training to use :)

When I first laid eyes on this lens hood, I remembered the chunky hoods we wore before headsets became popular, and they didn't impress me. It was easy to use, offered fairly adequate coverage from the outside - not perfect - and made scanning the instrument much easier than fog lights or other goggle-like covers. I really like this IFR training hood. I prefer them over fog goggles for several reasons: 1. I wear goggles and they are much easier to use than fog goggles. 2. This is much better to use during the day, especially when the sun is low in the sky where the fog makes it so bright when you face the sun that you essentially become blind due to the light scattering of the fog. 3.
