I'm not very happy with it, but it's great when it works.

It seems like you have to buy a new Asus router once or twice a year, but when it works, it's great. I'm on my 4th in 2 years because they keep failing. Sometimes the transmitter/receiver 2.4 fails; sometimes it is AImesh sender/receiver failure. Sometimes just bricks. However, when it works, it's great - fast, simple interface. I need 2 in my house because it always seems like once it starts pushing 10-12 connected WiFi devices it will drop everything in favor of the newly connected devices…

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • Anything to add

Great for routers so far

I won't even pretend to set it up myself, I haven't but I can tell you my geek swears by this product. I wanted to save $18 a month on rent at my internet company and he made me buy it. So far it's been great. I know the antenna mount is terrible. I have to lean the antennas against a wall or objects so they stand up and don't tip over. Somehow I can not imagine how antennas work. Without the problem with the antenna I would have given 5 stars.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not bad

Automatic updates in routers

Seems to have a good range. I love that the Aimesh system seems to keep you connected to the strongest signal. My only problem so far has been the automatic update function. Asus released a new update in August and I lost my internet connection. When something like this happens, I usually just turn off the device and everything is fine. This router is on the system in our second home. We left when this update happened and had no intention of returning for over a month. I had my neighbor turn it

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

3100 has a problem

Worked fine for a week then the 5MHz band disappeared and never came back. I did a reset etc. but it doesn't work. I've been using ASUS for years and haven't had any problems. Did some research and found many posts about the 3100 series having this particular issue.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Unreliable, absolutely no purchase recommendation.

I ordered 3 of these restored routers and 2 of them failed within a few days. It's a great router, but the refurbished model isn't reliable.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Piggy bank Price

It didn't work smoothly

Asus makes a great router, but I was lucky the wifi kept dropping out. My house is small so I lose connection even when I walk up the stairs. I think maybe it was renovated, that's why. I don't think I'll spend the money on a new one.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

Dissatisfied and returned

I've tried this and the AC-1900 router. The AC-1900 performed better and I would advise others to buy the newer technology rather than the premium version of the old technology.

Pros
  • Good build
Cons
  • Bad build

Bad 5GHz. The device was not tested before sale.

The 2.4GHz WiFi worked very well. 5 GHz dropped out after 1 hour. Reboot, error, nothing works. Send it back and try another. This device replaced a 5 year old Asus router that was malfunctioning. I really want Asus to work so I can connect Aimesh. Obviously this device was not fully tested before it was packaged and resold.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Out of fashion
