I really liked this device. Bought to use my Apollo Twin X Duo with my Windows desktop. With correct connection and lightning activation in my motherboard bios. This Thunderbolt 4 card allowed me to use my Apollo Thunderbolt 3 audio interface device. Works well for this, can't speak of using it for monitors as I only got it for my Apollo device.

Great card! Fairly difficult to install

This card works great when configured correctly. I had some trouble getting it to work with a Ryzen 7 3700x on a B550 ROG Strix MB. I downloaded the drivers directly from the Asus website. Make sure you enable TB support and set it to Titan Ridge in the BIOS settings. After all the drivers and everything is installed correctly, do a few reboots and everything should work. Otherwise solid product! I use it with a 3090 eGPU and it works incredibly well.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Hard to say

DO NOT BUY FOR A RYZEN MOTHERBOARD EVEN IF ON THE COMPATIBILITY LIST. Drivers will be removed by themselves. Every time I need to install, the installer says no drivers are installed. The manual doesn't talk about connecting the PCI-E power cable. It only says 14-1 cable and USB 2 cable. If you have a TB3 card it says install the PCI-E power cable and 14-1 pin but not the USB 2 patch cable. It also completely ignores the Message that you To do this, the Lightning header must be activated in the

"Faulty Card " Asus Support

I called Asus and their customer service said this board was what I needed for Rogg Strix B550-F games. I connected it to my motherboard, it provides power but no data. My computer cannot recognize my Samsung flagship phones or the Quest 2. I called Asus customer service and the first time they just hung up after collecting my info like name and product. The second time the support rep hung up after telling me to update the drivers and the third time he said there was nothing he could do andโ€ฆ

not fully functional

So I just put together a rig, all top notch, and the motherboard this connector was made for, the Z590-E, as well as the 11th gen i9 which gave me full output lines on board. However, this card refused to read some devices. It read USB-C storage devices but didn't recognize any standard USB devices like hub or mouse, keyboard, camera, etc. and only occasionally read memory cards. This made it useless for me to buy it as I wanted to use it with ONE cable instead of 10 to my computer so it wouldโ€ฆ

It takes some effort to get it working with a Ryzen motherboard.

It took me a while to get the Thunderbolt4 card working on my ASUS Strix B550-A motherboard. After 14-1 connector cable, USB 2 cable and PCIE power. I need to go into BIOS to enable Thunderbolt features. The BIOS UI hides this option very deeply and I end up using F9 (Search) to enable Thunderbolt and set the chipset to Intel Maple Ridge (JHL8540). Well, manual steps seem necessary. After booting into Windows I can install the driver (from the CD or from the Asus website) and see theโ€ฆ
