One day the base unit died. It was hooked up to the same surge protector as the other electronics and had no issues with it, so I don't think it's surge related. Tried different outlets at home and even one at work. Portable devices still turn on, but without a working base, they're useless. The base station equipment is robust and easy to preload and then replace together with two additional handsets. If you take your cell phone out of range and later come back within range of the wireless phone, it WILL NOT automatically reconnect to the iphone XS as most other systems work. For my desk phone, I used a Panasonic cordless phone system. It had call blocking but you had to enter the call you wanted to block and it only blocked up to 250 calls.
