Fast Cutting Diamond Blade

This is much easier to use than Norton Leveling Stone as you don't have to soak it. This makes leveling your waterstones much easier/quicker AND YOU CAN USE THIS TO RE-PROFILE YOUR KNIVES! Definitely worth the money paid. I highly recommend you buy this if you're even thinking of picking it up.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • No Power

Worth every penny! suitable for kitchen and dining room

Model 140 can smooth out water stones very quickly. It's probably the same aggression as the dmt xx rough, but it softens after about 20-30 smoothes. It can sharpen knives, but I don't recommend it for that. In my opinion this is the best smoother. Worth every penny. We'll have to see if the diamonds last as long as they say. Although it seems to last longer than DMT!

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • The list is long.

Perfect way to profile a knife, deburr or clean and level other stones

Very happy to have this 140 grit diamond stone. I recommend starting with this stone when sharpening your knife. He gets a burr immediately. Of course you can improve the edge with higher grit stones, but save yourself time and trouble and start with this stone. I've also found this to work well for cleaning and leveling my other stones or getting a good slurry on them if that's what you want.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Makes me angry

I sharpen knives. I bought this for two purposes: to smooth my Japanese waterstones and to grind down the worn teeth on a couple of old steak knives to turn them into cute little fillet/utility knives. Like most diamonds, it's really rough and "gripping" at first. However, when I "broke it" by rubbing it against 4 of my Japanese waterstones to smooth them out (worked perfectly) the toughness was gone and I was still smooth 140 grit aggressive diamond stone. Honestly said, couldn't be happier.

Pros
  • Well built
Cons
  • Damaged

Now you lap!

To be honest I rarely used this plate for sharpening knives (more on that in a moment) but more for lapping my lower grit stones. This is undoubtedly a great stone for lapping, but be careful, you can easily use this platter to take away your favorite stones for weeks or even months, don't get carried away. I was the victim of that rock, which chewed up a quarter of a millimeter of Chapton in a jiffy. Very aggressive, great for re-sharpening a knife but leaves very deep sharpening marks that…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Appearance

I bought 140 grit and am completely satisfied with the stone. I sharpen carpenters planes and chisels on Shapton Professional and Glass stones. I needed a good rough diamond stone of sufficient size to smooth my <1000 grit stones. I considered others but this purchase was not a mistake. It smoothes out very quickly (faster than a Shapton diamond bur) and shows no signs of wear. Atom is a very high quality stone. This particular rough stone is a bit rougher than what I usually need for…

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to

Don't leave good or bad reviews if you don't qualify

I'm giving 4 stars as I don't have that many. I lightly lapped the backs of 3 very hard Japanese planes with an Atoma 140 plate and then repeated the process with a high carbon steel rag and carbide powder after tapping Uras on all 3. Then I pre-sanded their bevels. approach 30° before next sanding with the new Shapton 1000 ceramic waterstone before proceeding with the Shapton 5000 ceramic waterstone Sanding using the same method as planing. If the Atoma plate holds up and there is enough left…

Pros
  • Solid workmanship

  • Anything I can add

Excellent for smoothing water stones and creating bevels

The best part is that the surface is extremely flat as far as I can tell, which was very important to me. This is how you can smooth out water stones very quickly. It's a bit slower than I expected for flattening the back of the chisel, but I haven't found anything faster either, so maybe it's as good as you can really hope? I also really appreciate its size. I have several smaller DMT panels and while they are excellent, the smaller size made them much more difficult to use for most…

Pros
  • Got it!
Cons
  • Useless features
