Atomic SS1 Stainless Steel Safe Second Inflator: The Ultimate Diving Companion Review

This is a Christmas present so has not been assembled or tested yet. However, I'm sure it will be a great asset to my son's scuba gear.

Let's face it, none of us use our safety second as our primary regulator, but this combo does a pretty good job. It's not a well-balanced second stage, but it's handy enough to get rid of a hose. I highly recommend it. Very easy to install even if you have a dump valve on top of the inflator hose.

I wasn't initially "in love" with this regulator/supercharger. Externally, this makes breathing "intermittent” and even a little noisy (think snoring). HOWEVER, I recently had the time and foresight to switch this at depth (100ft) with my master controller and it worked great! It's a bit pricey, but I'm confident that this safe second won't let me down if the need arises.

I can't say enough good things about this regulator. Being able to detach the extra hose from your scuba gear is an absolute pleasure. Resting this safe second is just as comfortable as my expensive primary regulator and I have no doubts about the safety, quality and reliability of this regulator in an emergency. Highly recommended for fellow divers, teachers and students.
