🚀 Improve Performance with ATP Automotive Graywerks 101140 Exhaust Manifold Review

This exhaust manifold was exactly what I was looking for and at a great price. It matched my Chevy inline 6 engine perfectly and I've now finished my exhaust system on my old '49 truck.

Bought and installed. No problem. Other buyers have commented on the rough cast, which is true. I used a rotary carbide file and cleaned it up a bit. But other than that, that's the good part. Yes, the seal that came with it was broken. But I still didn't plan to use it since I had a Fel-Pro. I found the equipment provided to be in perfect condition.

We have a machine shop and after reading some reviews I expected this part to be machined. NO. It was perfectly smooth and well finished. See photo on the mill table. Worked great, no problems. I bought this to replace the original warped header on a 194. All bolt holes line up and the valve stem works well. Everything went well together. However, the inside of the casting is terribly rough. I'm sure the flow properties are terrible. At least it's easy to install and work, which isn't always the case with repops.

I installed this header on my 1963 Chevy II Nova station wagon and it fits well. And I like the option to use a 3-bolt exhaust flange instead of a 2-bolt, which you can still use, but the 3-bolt reduces the chances of the pipe coming loose and leaking due to engine vibration. It fits with no problem. And it has a heat riser that took so long to fail on my old header.

Total crap. This has to be the worst casting I have ever seen and far from the right thickness to fit the intake manifold. If you buy this IT WILL NOT WORK OUT OF THE BOX! It has to be processed. Absolute shit! The good news is that the bolts are included, but the nuts provided will not fit everything that comes with the kit. The gasket that came with it seems fine.

Totally agree with the previous review regarding poor fitment, mismatched hardware and damaged gasket between manifold and head. Had to be machined and part of the casting was too thick at a port to accommodate the pressure washer. When installing, I found that exhaust was pouring from where the radiator shaft goes through the casting. i will return it I have been using ATP products for many years and this is my first bad experience.

Good header. You can get the same quality from a resto catalog for more, but this one has the hardware. Mine wasn't warped as far as I could see and yes the molding inside is a BIT rougher than the original but it looks the same on the outside. Finished surfaces are fine. The factory thermal damper seems to work fine. The equipment is fine. Locknuts would be cool, but I can do the job. My box had a second layer that contained my pads and they were fine. How do I start. I chose this manifold for my Chevrolet 230 because it came with studs and gaskets. The outlet was about 1/4 inch narrower than stock. I had to crush it to open it. I spent an hour screwing in the screws and found that the dowel holes were preventing me from aligning the other screw holes. I had to grind the holes for the pins 1/8 inch. I also had to machine one of the stock clamps to fit properly. Add at least $10 for a good carbide carving tool when you buy it, and be prepared…
