Small and easy to use

I just hooked up my wife's CRV. My caravan was loaned to a friend and I couldn't find my meter. I looked for a tester at one of my local auto parts stores. Either you had to connect them to a trailer or the price was too high. So I go to Revane and find this thing. It can work alone or in series to determine whether there are lighting or wiring problems. Saves troubleshooting time by fixing the truck/car instantly.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

This allowed me to quickly check my truck's wiring. Looks like a good quality item. I highly recommend installing a 4 wire trailer extension (about 48" depending on the vehicle) so you can run individual tests from the driver's door when using the turn signals, brakes, etc. You can just hang the tester near Cover the back of the car or truck with tape. Also, check your running lights, turn signals, and brake lights with four-position turn signals on to make sure everything is working as it…

Defective: Tester

Would be a handy tool to diagnose why one of the tail lights on my trailer would not illuminate when the tractor headlights were on. Unfortunately, the circuit tester was defective. When connected to the tractor, the left and right turn signals on the circuit tester came on, but the tail light indicator did not come on, indicating a problem with the tractor's wiring. Using a multimeter confirmed that the tractor wiring is fine. A portion of the circuit tester's tail light also did not…

Manual little tester!

Very handy tester! I use it with a pre-built extension to place the tester where I can see it while working with the lighting controls. I later learned how to test trailer headlights by turning on the running lights and four-way turn signals. 4 ways to activate (and test) brake lights and turn signals. Note that a dim LED tester may tell you that there is low voltage from your vehicle's converter box. I ran into this problem and thought it was the trailer lights - since all of the tester's LEDs

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Functionality

When you need it, you need it A LOT!

Ringing the trailer wiring with a multimeter is a headache, anyone who has done this will attest. I love this inexpensive but very valuable tool in my power tool box. If one of my trailers or anyone else has a problem, it quickly lets me know if the problem is with the car's wiring or the trailer. While trailers are usually to blame, this will be a HUGE time saver as you won't have to redo every connection and ground on your trailer only to find that it was a faulty wiring harness the entire…
