The wire is ok but not AWG 12ga

The wire worked but I ruled out the AWG 12ga wire which is much smaller than the AWG 12ga wire. I compared with a real 12ga cable. It looks more like 14ga AWG wire. To be fair it doesn't say it's AWG 12ga. Seems to be key if you need a true 12ga cable.

I like thin cable strands

has some shortcomings; I don't use it for audio projects. This wire is of such good quality that I have standardized it for my amateur radio projects. The thin strands make it flexible and my situation always calls for a custom length, so I just cut what I need.

Pros
  • speaker cable
Cons
  • I have to admit that

Works for me: Auto & Vehicle Electronics

I'd say it's a great cable for the price, I'd say it's a light 12 ga or a heavy 14 so maybe a 13 or even a 12.5 . Much better than my old 16ga. I can't say I know if it's copper or not, although the wire is good. I don't usually measure it, but some have said it's short. I took rustic measurements and came up with 120 feet. So I'm pretty sure it's at least 100ft, and I may have ordered more. Would buy again.

General Purpose Wire

Not only is this the cheapest way to get good quality #12 wire (besides ripping it out of the wall). I am impressed by the many possible uses. Advertised as "speaker wire" I use it to power my car, power the auxiliary lights, FM radio, and all those "awkward bits" that you have to plug into your cigarette lighters. With his help I built my entire control and power distribution system for my "beloved cabin". A little smart operation turns it into an instant dipole antenna for your chosen band…

Say UBU say

The ONLY thing I can say about it is the packaging. Doesn't work on a roll. It is simply rolled up in the package and you can unroll it to get the wire out. I went from the middle which worked fine. Now that I'm done with the only complaint I still give it 5 stars. I like the black and red color scheme best. I don't have to look for little clues to figure out which side is which. Brazen in the face, for which side is sharpened. Yes, I know it's hard to hide. I don't have state-of-the-art…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak

It's NOT 12 gauge! it is NOT copper!

In my photo on the left Audiopipe and on the right GS Power. Disassembled, they are about the same size. Stripping with the same tool, you can see a significant difference in the number of wires. Audio tube insulation is really thick, and if that's important (rather than how much current it can handle) then this wire is for you. What they do NOT say is that it is CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum) and not pure copper wire. It's hard to tell from the photo, but each strand inside is really a different…
