Choose black, red is unreasonably expensive

As there are many reviews on various aspects of sound quality, I will only try to help those who cannot decide between black and red. I've had both Black and Red for a few months and listen to them regularly, about 10 hours a week. I can't tell the difference even though I hear each one through some of the best quality headphones. The black is great and knowing what I know now I would buy another black model. I see no reason to overpay for an imperceptible difference.

Great upgrade that won't break the bank

I have a Schiit Fulla 2 that I use with my Macbook but I need something smaller that connects to my iPhone and Audioquest's Dragonfly Black has me not disappointed. For people who have a decent amount of money invested in their headphones, this is a welcome improvement in the sound you get from your headphones. You need a Lightning to USB adapter if you want to use it with an iPhone. As with any external DAC, your results may vary depending on the headphones. I tried them on my headphones (OPPO

changed my life The best audio and video accessory

So I chose this DAC mainly for its MQA decoding capabilities, headphone preamp, amplifier and smartphone compatibility. I mostly listen to my music with Tidal, I have some high quality headphones and I never thought that this DAC would make such a big difference. Boy was I wrong. After updating it so I could hear MQA tracks, I sat in my computer room, turned off the lights, lit some candles, poured myself some wine, chose a song I liked, and hit play -Button. And then it happened, I was…

Does everyone drink Kool-Aid?

I haven't seen any improvement on my 2018 Mackbook Air with a Grado SR-80. You can get a higher volume, but that's about it. I tried lossless files. It's hard to believe the claims about the difference between day and night. Do people hear with their ears or with their minds? Are you convinced that you have "golden ears" and can hear the tiniest differences inaccessible to ordinary mortals? I consider myself a perceptive listener. I am a classical music lover and I would like to have the best…

Best value portable stereo

Highly recommended. I bought the DragonFly to use as a headphone amp/DAC for use with my iPhone/Shure 535 on the go. I stream Tidal Lossless (CD quality) and sometimes Spotify. Without DragonFly, the sound on the iPhone/Shure sounds good, but there's graininess across the spectrum - the instruments lose their juiciness, the sound gets a bit compressed, and the music tires after 30-60 minutes. Type Dragonfly and the music sounds clear, emotional, juicy, transparent - and I can forget annoying…

  • Cable is shorter than other models

I have the audiophile's world (or the rabbit hole, depending on who you ask) in mind discovered a few months ago and gladly tried out different headphones + DACs/amplifiers + Hi-Res tracks during this time. My goal is to (1) find combos that I like and stick with, rather than endlessly drooling over things I don't own, (2) find good stats that fit my lifestyle and make sense ( z my kids, they can't go to college because I need new headphones, but I also don't kid myself that a $20 pair is going
