Next to useless

I live within the city limits of one of the flattest places on earth, Jacksonville, Florida. I bought this to replace the crappy dipole antenna that came with an Akai mini stereo that was having a hard time picking up local AM/FM radio stations. I installed it and you know what? Almost no difference no matter how you move the LEDs with the two rotary controls. The strongest FM station in town (8 miles away) got better reception with less interference but that's about it. I'm not sure what these other people are talking about.

I used this compact antenna for many years in a small New York apartment where signals bounced between buildings and often caused echoes. It worked very well. I don't use this for AM reception; I turn it off when listening to AM radio and use the TERK AM Advantage passive antenna which I cannot recommend highly. Also, I've never attempted to listen to an FM station further than Newark, NJ, so I'm not sure if this antenna is really an improvement over the old TERK it replaced, but there's no…

I live at the bottom of a canyon near San Francisco. Steep hills prevent good VHF reception from a standard dipole or traditional VHF rooftop antenna. With this powerful antenna, I can hear new things and talk over the radio on the left end of the dial (where my stations are) with acceptable clarity. The music reception is still a bit noisy, so I have to switch the receiver to mono. The alleged accuracy of the antenna tuning does not match his claim. However, gain control seems to be the key to
