The strap is adjustable, nice and thick so your shoulder doesn't hurt. Everything is very light, so it doesn't weigh me down. And my 8 lb chihuahua loves to ride it. I bought this to carry my 20 lb terrier mix on the New York subway. I chose this one over another strap I also got from Revain because of the soft strap.
