It works fine but the vial is cheap plastic and arrived broken and unusable. In addition, it is not very transparent and difficult to read. Fortunately, I have another alcohol hydrometer, and a glass test tube works well for it. Also, so many sensors are stacked on top of each other that it's hard to read. It seems to be working fine otherwise.

Sent back twice, the third time is the first time I received it unbroken before the packaging (there was no broken glass in the packaging but it wasn't broken glass so that's it only conclusion I can think of) and the third doesn't seem to work - even if it did, the cylinder is completely opaque, rendering it unusable. Absolute rubbish.

Hope it works but it came in a ziploc bag and didn't come with a cleaning cloth or storage bag as described. Disappointed to say the least. And why does it have such a massive graduated cylinder that isn't very transparent and doesn't look easy to read? That's a big portion of your beer unless you're making 5 gallons at a time.

Interestingly, the case containing the hydrometer OR the graduated cylinder it was packaged in is undamaged, telling me it was damaged before it was packaged for shipment to me.

But I used it once and after reading it, I simply placed the hydrometer on my granite countertop. Just that slight contact broke it (I stress I didn't drop it or force it down).
