I need a device that will last a long time as we eat a lot of vegetables and salads in my house. This device was very cheap and also made out of thin plastic. Enough for 4 salads. Ba!

Never thought I would leave a review for a banana slicer, here we are. He does what he says he will do. Halves the time. Easy to clean. Pretty fun to use. Do you need it? Probably no. This is useful? Absolutely!

When I received it there was a powdery substance on the "blades". I wiped it off and then squeezed the handle a few times to check. As a result, there was more gunpowder on the blades - and lots of gunpowder. It rips off the yellow plastic every time it is squeezed to cut. Very poor (and dangerous) workmanship.

The plastic parts that hold the metal spring on the handle broke after a few uses. They were thin pieces and felt like brittle plastic. I had one before that was used for several years and never broke. I only replaced it because the blades looked rusty. I chose this one because it was one of the more expensive slicers and the Better Home name made me think it would be high quality. Big mistake!

Ideal for slicing bananas. The blade is a lot stronger than I thought (instead of little wires like an egg slicer) so I figured I could cut strawberries as well, but most of the berries were too big. But it was strong enough. If you can think of more little things to hack, do it! The quality looks very good. I hand wash to make sure the dish soap doesn't ruin spring faster.

I bought this thinking it would be very convenient to use with hot dogs/sausages. He squashed a regular old hot dog into a sausage. It was hard. That does not work. This works for bananas and is easy to peel. That means it's pretty cheap, but what can you expect from a $5 kitchen gadget? The plastic part fell out after the second use. It was clearly not a necessary piece of plastic because it can still be used. All in all, for $5 if you just want to chop bananas, this is a good budget gadget…
