Great for first use but not for everyday use ($$)

What I like about this item is the ability to reheat food without a fire. Also, if it does get hot, I would also suggest placing the container in a cooler bag or some type of pouch to increase or retain heat. It will not help if it is on a cold table, for example. What I don't like is the cost of heating packs. It can get expensive if you use it every day

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

heating packages. suitable for camping and hiking

Product design looks good. Problems: 1) When I bought it, the right size (50g) packets were not available (but it wasn't clear). 2) Amazon advised the group to buy the wrong size (20g) tank packs (probably because the correct size was not available). So a week before the trip I have smart cookware but there is no way to heat it up. Luckily I have found that Old Faithful Flameless (80g) heating pads work very well in the Barocook. Just make sure you get the right size when purchasing this fuelโ€ฆ

It's not worth it because it can't even heat food.

I was thrilled to receive my Baro Flameless Brew System. After trying it today, I am very dissatisfied. Now I know it's not worth it! I tested it with already cooked chicken soup, which was not even warm enough after 20 minutes. He just had to heat my soup. It is not even suitable for heating food or preparing hot food. He can only warm up the food a little. Can NOT accurately cook food or bring anything to a boil, it only takes about 20 minutes per pack to cook. You would prefer a camp stoveโ€ฆ

Convenient outdoor stove

Based on some reviews I was almost disappointed with this stove. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised. I made soup in a vacuum bag on top of an ice pack (pretty cold pretty much) with some thick slices of turkey. I followed the directions and after 20 minutes I was impressed with the hot soup. . So hot, in fact, that it almost burned my tongue. I was afraid to leave the heater in the container after cooking because it was still very hot and some comments suggested they might warp the plasticโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Only available in white

Works and works well

I agree with another reviewer that the marking on the outer shell is very helpful when setting up the heating pad, especially as the outer shell is transparent. However, it is possible that this is not the case since the amount of water varies depending on the heating pad used. My only other issue is that the heating pad is sometimes difficult to remove from the outer shell, but that has more to do with the shape of the heating element than anything else. That being said, this thing isโ€ฆ

Works and works well!

I bought this for my husband who has severe dietary restrictions and is sent on the trip for up to three weeks in emergencies when it's even harder to control what groceries you get . My plan was to make additional meals each time I cook, vacuum, and freeze in hopes that this cooker could heat up long enough to warm up from frozen. These are frozen blocks of food, which is why I was concerned. But it worked great on the second try! For those with such aspirations, the only way to get this toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • I'm writing back

Good, but not great in a pinch

This flameless mug heats liquids and works on the same principle as the MRE heater. I thought the idea was clever and had multiple uses in mind when ordering. After trying it out a few times, I feel like it's not particularly user-friendly and that its shortcomings are likely to limit its use in emergencies. As other reviewers have noted, it doesn't have a water fill line, which allows it to overfill, which in turn can be a hazard. It can only be used outdoors or in very well ventilated areasโ€ฆ

  • Satisfied so far
