Great First Impression

Used to push and circulate wort (brewing) through the counterflow cooler. Did a test and it works great. I can't submerge it in water because the initial temperature is close to boiling, so it needs to be connected to the ball valve at the bottom of the kettle. It would be great if it could even be slightly self-priming, but it isn't. For the price if it lasts a few years it would be a good investment. Update - There was a problem with the pump. Sometimes it didn't start. I found that sometimes

Great little home brew pump for the budget conscious brewer!

Perfect for home brewing, I use it for mashing, HERMS coil, fly wash and transfer from BK to primary fermenter. High flow at full tilt, capable of pumping 6 gallon batches in less than 3 minutes. The pump doesn't complain about being pushed VERY down and handles 174F water with no problem (that's the highest temperature I'll bring to my process when mashing up to 170F). Worth the cost of the entrance ticket. I have paired this with stainless steel barbed connections and a set of three ball…

A good, easy and cheap investment for all grain homebrewers.

This is a small pump. The pump itself does not suck. The 3/8" tines on the pump came with o-rings to ensure liquid tightness, which surprised me. It also came with teflon tape which I didn't use because the hardware is removed and cleaned every time. .The pump works very well to move the wort from the mash tun to the kettle, allows you to recirculate the wort back to the top of the grain pod with a diffuser for wort clarification without disturbing your pod. Good pumping speed; fast enough to…

Good house beer, but.

This pump is suitable for brewing. As it worked for the brew and only had a small problem with hop residue. I would not brew a hop brew without using a spider as the pump has a 1/4 inch internal size and has problems with "debris" in the stream. For a Bitter that was normal. For a fifth the price of a 'proper' pump I would give it five stars but the 'proper' pump scoffs at the hop litter pellets and I can see this pump faltering. You'll see, I don't have to deal with a lot of 'junk'. It's more…

Problems at first but everything is fine

I think I wrote a bad review first but I have to correct it. First thanks to Joy and Emma for their replies and to Revane Prime for their help. I bought two of these items, one with a fork and the other without. These little monsters work well. My problem was that one terminal of the pump cable was out of order, my handyman cleaned it, stripped the cable and the pump quickly started working. No installation suggestions, no troubleshooting page anywhere. They just tell you to return them with no

  • I will write later

Finally got around to installing this unit. Despite refueling when it was on the bottom of the 55-gallon tank, it didn't rock. There was no cavitation, it just wasn't pumped. I have contacted the seller. If they fix it I'll upgrade my rating but it's less than useless for now. . . It took me time and effort to fix the problem, which no one should do with a new product. Update: The seller contacted me and offered to prime the pump. It is also recommended to fully submerge the pump. So I tried…

Great little brew pump.

Great little brew pump. I use this 180F hot water circulation pump primarily on the hot side of my heat exchanger to control the mash temperature while recirculating mash water through the other side of the heat exchanger. I have another version of this pump that recirculates the wort through the other side of the heat exchanger. I have this one that is powered by an InkBird temperature controller when I'm controlling the mash temperature and a switched output when water is running into my hot…

Pumps water hard, not fast

I have a homemade coiled pool heater that consists of a 1200 foot length of half inch black irrigation hose that I push water through with a Hayward 1 1/2 HP pump and a sand filter with a tee fitting on the return side of the filter have. I have 6,200ft coils on an 8ft x 12ft table about the same height as the pool so I usually have to turn on the pool heat pump and filter which is very expensive all summer long. I bought this little pump on a whim to see if it could push coils at all. Joined…
