Won't boot after a few weeks

Worked fine for about 3 weeks then just stopped loading. Worked fine when I turned it off. When I tried turning it back on a few days later, all I saw was a brief flash of the Power LED and then nothing. The board appears to be dead. After some searching on the internet, this doesn't seem too uncommon. To be a hobbyist platform, it has to be more reliable than this one.

Great for anyone looking for an AM3359 development board

Your satisfaction with this board will directly proportional to how much time and energy you want to put into it. This is not a Raspberry Pi and those who buy it with such expectations will be disappointed. The support community is smaller and the learning curve is steeper. However, this is a great development board for the AM3359 processor and will not disappoint. Great board for learning Linux or real-time I/O

This is a versatile little board with lots of fans. Not as powerful as the RPi for video capabilities, but if you want real-time I/O then this is what you need. You can get started with a single USB cable (included) from the board to your computer. There are several good books devoted to this board, the best of which (in my opinion) is Derek Molloy's Learning the BeagleBone.

Endless problems with the USB host, not happy

SO TIRED OF USB PROBLEMS. I don't know why I've kept struggling to get these damn things (I have several of them) to work reliably with USB hot-plugging, not generate random data errors with high-speed USB UARTs, and so on. On a recent work project I switched to a Raspberry Pi (relatively less powerful) and it's a relief to have a reasonably reliable USB connection to the host. Why low rating? It doesn't work well with Mac.

I should have searched more but it doesn't work with Macs. The drive is a Microsoft FAT formatted drive and the Mac cannot write to it. Anyway, it doesn't work the way I set it up. I need to connect it to my windows system. It's compact and has plenty of pins for whatever you want to do. This was described on "The American Raspberry Pi". Of course I will buy it. Great little workhorse

BB Black Rev C. is a great controller with many interfaces built in. I wish the GPIO lines were better buffered as I blew another BB by putting 5v into one. But there are many ways to write software for it. I've written a few JavaScript utilities, but I've done the most complex stuff in C++ using Visual Studio for Linux cross-development tools. Excellent Single Board Computer - Single Board Computer

Excellent Single Board Computer. I actually use one of these in a professional setting. I prefer them over Raspberry Pi (1, 3 etc) as they have more GPIOs and are a fully open platform. No WiFi, but that doesn't bother me. I don't like using Wi-Fi for an embedded device unless it's used for experimentation. Ethernet is much more stable. The best thing about them and the BeagleBone Green is that the micro USB port acts as a USB serial console port for Linux, power and a USB RNDIS Ethernet device
