Fits perfectly. - Engine cooling and air conditioning

I bought this thermostat to work with the electric water pump I bought. It fits perfectly and the price is about half that of a BMW dealer and the brand name is about the same. Works perfectly since I installed it on my BMW X3. Highly recommend to a friend.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Functionality

Leak exactly one year later

Purchased this item for my 2007 BMW 328 on 24th December 2012. Almost exactly a year later (today 12/19/2013) the thermostat is leaking in the plug area so bad I put a piece of cardboard under the car when parking must lay in order not to leave any marks on the concrete floor. I need to find a new replacement urgently. I would not recommend this product to other buyers.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I will add later

Exact Replacement 328XI (2007 E91)

Exact Replacement (E91) 2007 BMW 328XI. Works well and seems to be doing the job, driven almost 5000 miles since installation. One thing to note is that the OEM version is a block of metal (cast aluminum? zinc?) and all plastic. It appears to be some sort of BMC/thermoset material, which is pretty standard these days. You will receive the plastic version.

Pros
  • Best in its niche

Lighter and works great

Nice detail. It's made of plastic rather than cast aluminum, but that doesn't mean it's any worse. BMW has been successfully using plastic components for two decades. I would recommend two things: if you need to replace the thermostat, you should also replace the electronic water pump. Both tend to wear out at about the same time, and you don't have to install them more than once in the ridiculously tight space they're designed for. There are some good DIY materials on the internet…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
