Luckily Revain has a great returns policy

Defective, oil leaked heavily. Luckily, Revain has an excellent returns policy. As a result, I had to go to the Subaru dealership and buy a regular unit.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Additional steps to replace

Attached picture is not correct. I removed the VVT solenoid and 24mm wrench to install it. The gray collar under the socket was larger, so the socket could not be used.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Not bad

Defective after 2 years.

This part has worked great for me for two years. I recently experienced a catastrophic failure of this component, oil was leaking from the electrical connection. Spend extra money to buy a genuine Subaru part, don't waste your time with this part.

Pros
  • Excellent Overall Performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Failure after less than 1000 km.

As other reviewers have noted, this item works initially but fails soon after. I estimate I drove less than 1000 miles before this element failed. I was willing to work with the company to resolve the issue but there is no way to contact them or ask a question on their Revain page. I consider that poor customer service.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Out of fashion

No practical installation method

Poor design, not like the picture. The push button switch supplied for the 2007 Subaru Forester had a built in plastic collar around the wire connector that was larger in diameter than the hex headed metal base. The plastic tie gets in the way and there is no way to use a socket wrench to install. Due to the location on the engine, tightening with an open-end wrench is also not possible.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • I will add later
