I bought it in July '09. I bought it because my husband had one for his laptop and it seemed to work fine. They had the same model number but his USB connector is plugged in permanently and mine was detachable and that is the crux of the problem. My Revain Belkin has been working fine for less than six months. (I've never dropped or mishandled a device.) It looks like everything bad has been fixed with this excellent cooler. It no longer has that weird smell of glue. The USB cable storage door/stand has a latch to prevent accidental closing and the USB cable is durable enough for everyday use. Because it's blowing air out, the fan can't be blocked, and I suspect this over-running of the fan motor caused the problems that previous reviewers had. After hearing stories about laptops overheating, I decided to buy a cooling pad to alleviate it. Overall, I found the Belkin cooling pad to perform quite well. It cools effectively and is useful even when not in use for cooling.
