Much more work than I expected

Didn't know you had to pre-clean the carburetor before installation this Friday? I left the carburetor in for 30 minutes the first time. When I pulled it out it was still fat! So I brushed it off and washed it off with hot water! The second time I left it there for an hour. I had to clean and rinse without water again! For the third time, leave the pieces there for 30 minutes. It turned out that they were fine. Pure? Much more work than I expected.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • The packaging is ugly

Very bad packaging, unusable.

I would have given this product more stars if it weren't for the packaging. I've used Berryman before and it works great, but this jar was poorly packaged and so damaged it was unusable. The basket in the parts soaking can does not slip and does not come out because the can has been severely deformed. They would have been better off using paper to fill the box, given the weight of the 64-ounce can, the air-filled plastic packaging didn't hold up. I'm surprised the glass didn't leak. It would…

It only degreases. DON'T SPEND MONEY!

I could get the same results with a simple green color. I soaked the lawn mower carburetor and valve parts for 24 hours. And it didn't even wash away the dirt! It's nowhere near what I used 15 years ago. I even taped a vibrating grinder to the can to stir things up and it turned out the charcoal wasn't soft enough to brush off with a toothbrush. The copper parts still look matte, not the bright gold the old-fashioned cleaner left them. Doesn't peel color like it used to. I would like to leave…

Ideal for pistons and bolts!

I've never been a fan of this carb stuff as there is a bit of dirt floating around in it, but it works great for applications that don't have passages that can easily clog! Usually use it on cobs as a good 24 hour soak will clean them off a ton of carbon without cleaning! Soaking them longer will make them even cleaner, but usually a day is enough. It's also great for soaking dirty screws and fasteners before a thorough cleaning and rinsing. It has a fair price and can be reused several times…

Proceed to descaling

I was looking for a simple descaling option to rebuild my 5.3 LS aluminum pistons. After a long search, I found that this had the best rating score. It really works! I poured the liquid into a 5 gallon bucket so I could soak 4 flasks at a time. I soaked them for 24 hours without touching them or mechanically cleaning them before diving. When I took them out and rinsed them in hot water, everything just washed off. I couldn't believe it. I didn't have to clean ring grooves or anything like that.

  • Delivery was very fast

Worked great for cleaning the throttle body off my 2004 Buell Firebolt

I get a Buell XB12R that has been in the garage for 9 years, is fine again and the inside of the throttle body was badly blackened on it. Using typical carburetor cleaners made the polished surfaces nice and bright again, but not the rest of the cabin. I soaked it in Berryman's overnight and voila! Everything is nice and fresh again. I only need a toothbrush to clean the interior, but it all came off right away. Looks brand new. Apparently they took note of the reports of leaking or opening…

Lower quality than previous versions

I have been using this product for a long time and have noticed a noticeable decrease in the product's ability to clean carburetor parts. The instructions on the jar show that soaking for 15-30 minutes does absolutely nothing. Longer soaks (overnight) also yield less brilliant results—essentially an overpriced degreaser. The quality of the gallon sized container has also deteriorated - it's half the weight of other gallon sized containers I use (car paints), tends to bend/dent, and mine arrived

Ideal for control levers and parts

I bought this to clean 2.5 year old carburetors that were clogged with ethanol. I also bought a gallon of Gunk Parts Cleaner for comparison. I cleaned 4 carburetors from a boat engine so I could compare the two cleaners evenly. First, both cleaners have a very strong odor and smell like your hands when you're not wearing gloves. The first test I did was installing the completely disassembled carburetors overnight. Both purifiers did a great job of cleaning carbs. My next test with the 2 carbs I
