Not very good, but good. It's measured as a good material (3M etc) so the surface resistivity is as expected. The top and bottom are textured, but they're heavy and sticky enough not to move. The only problem is that it discolors at high temperatures. When I hold a soldering iron it turns black. It doesn't melt like cheap vinyl, but it does stain. However, it is a good inexpensive alternative. I am using an old piece of high quality product to solder and make this.

Pros
  • APPLICATIONS: Aerospace, electronics assembly and high temperature soldering
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Seems to be a good carpet. Curls like edges after a while.

A smooth surface is easier to clean than other textured surfaces. Its bottom rubber is tenacious so it doesn't slip on the table. To update. It looks like it will curl up at the edges. On the surfaces I placed it on, it curled up about 1/8 to 1/4 inch around the edges. The top gray layer seems to be shrinking and the black bottom layer is pulling up. I've never seen this with other brands of rugs that we've used. It also absorbed the dark spots from the base of the microscope with rubber feetโ€ฆ

Pros
  • SURFACE RESISTANCE: Earth resistance: 8 x 10e6-8 ohms and point-to-point resistance: 2 x 10e6-8 ohms
Cons
  • Easily torn

Starts well but yellows badly under UV radiation

It's been two years and I've sadly had to put it down to two or maybe even up to lower a star. The matte finish withstood physical exertion, but faded badly under fluorescent lights (they all contain a UV component). I never noticed until I saw a bench we use for a cruder "mechanical" build - it had a piece of lexan/perspex installed on it to protect the mat (ESD obviously wasn't a big deal). Bank). It wasn't until I looked under the plexi that I noticed a big difference - the plexi blocked UVโ€ฆ

Pros
  • ESD SAFETY: Designed for electronics assembly and manufacturing where static is a problem
Cons
  • Long delivery time
