Waste of money

These things suck. The mechanism is too tricky by half. It's hard to describe without using them, but they've been redesigned and just don't work properly. I'll be lucky if I get 25% of what I paid for on the used equipment market. Yes.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • No

expensive but worth it.

Before I bought these I bought a cheaper brand. It was a cam system, but the rubber pads didn't stick. The Bessey EKT55 one-hand edge clamp not only has a better grip, it also does not loosen the pads. The action is smooth. The construction is solid. Real wood handle. A little pricey but worth it.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Disappears

Throat depth matters!

I wasted my money on this clamp because the description didn't give a throat depth. I had to attach a 3 inch ear to the top of the cabinet sides so the toe would push off the top of the cabinet. This clip looked perfect but the cutout was about an inch short. The side handles reached no further than the ear to grab the edge of the cabinet. The clip works for edging, but if you're doing anything else be sure to check the required neck depth.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative result available

Bessey Edge Clamp EKT-55

Very nice to use. The large metal casting is surprisingly light, and the part of the movement inside is plastic, so it's nice and light. I used mine to press the edge against the plywood while gluing and it gripped very well without slipping (so yes, for the reviewer above, it's great for bare wood). Much quicker and easier to use than bar clamps. Now if only they could lower the price significantly so I could get a bunch of these instead of just one.

Pros
  • The pressure pads use soft plastic caps for a soft, non-slip clamp
Cons
  • I will add later

Throat depth matters!

I spent money on this clamp because the description didn't list the neck depth. Kick toe that hangs over the top of the cabinet. This one Clip looked perfect but the neckline was about 1" short. The side grips don't reach to the ear to grab the edge of the case. The clip works for edging but if you're doing anything else be sure to check the required one neck depth.

Pros
  • Clamps surfaces up to 2-1/8" thick
Cons
  • Very expensive

Bessey EKT55 clamp is the best of the clamps

This clamp meets certain requirements quite well (at a considerable price). I mainly used it to install bezels on cabinets. It is easy to use and lightweight considering its size. The mechanism worked well. My only disappointment was that he didn't push as hard as I had hoped. This may be because he was trying to capture the finished surface. I think raw wood would be better. I would be concerned if I needed strong printing and the inside of the cabinet was laminated. I tried the Gross Stabile…

Pros
  • No damage to clamping surfaces
Cons
  • Slightly torn
