I bought these for a closet makeover and wanted to use them to hang my boots. They are great for this as they are very strong and sturdy. However, after working with them for a while I found that they are also very useful for hanging hats and jewelry and even attached them to my hearth and hung the family's Christmas stockings from them. This is a buy back for me. They are durable with a very strong grip. I use them to hang pairs of my boots, some of which are fairly thick leather boots. So I struggled for a while to organize my friend's workout shorts. At first we kept them in a desk drawer and it was a biweekly mess and the stuff never stays in place once you install it.
