📏 BigHorn 19055 Figure-Caliper Review

It's just 'OK'. They are quite fragile and need to be folded back when using them so fingers are aligned. I rotated the dish, checking the thickness, and while rotating, almost every time I took a measurement, I had to bend my fingers again so they touched. The flex is not inside the curve, but up or down (if the caliper is level on the bench). I think for the price you get what you pay for - just wish there was a better caliper in figure 8 at Revain at a reasonable price.

Striving for very thin walls and closed wooden vessel I contacted an artist friend and finally decided to buy and tried it instead of the usual and other calipers I used. How have I ever done without this beautifully made and very affordable caliper! The two ends of my kit fitted together perfectly when closed, so I didn't even have to use a small offset when checking my part. I've only recently started turning closed wall jars so this is a very useful addition to my woodturning arsenal.

Received today. A little big, 14 inches rim to rim, 7.5 inches rim to rim, but never mind. This is 1/8" thick steel. When closed on one end it is open 1/16" on the other, but this can be corrected with a light touch of a whetstone. It was only packaged in a quilted bag, no different protection so the ends were not bent perpendicularly but bent back slightly.Ends were rounded smoothly.The edges were a bit sharp but workable, I didn't feel the need to grind the edges.As the steel is quite thin…
