Good idea but it didn't work so the holes were too big

I ordered this to make holes for shelf brackets in a bookshelf. I figured it would be better than gluing the drill bit to indicate the correct depth. I think the product is a good idea and I like that the drill has a tip that makes working with the hole much easier. The downside, at least with what I got, was that the assembly didn't rotate. True, although I've tried several times. When I drilled a few test holes I found that they were oversized due to construction delays. I like how the…

With the first drill from Big Horn, the holes I drilled were too large because the drill was not straight. OK. BEFORE USING THIS BIT. PLEASE READ BELOW! I'm not sure if the negative reviews on this item are actually a big horn bat bug. -- Be sure to lubricate the inside of this bit (and drill) with a dry lubricant such as Boeshield T9. Trash horror it looks like a beaver is chewing on a tree

I bought two of these drill bits and a Rockler tool and was very excited. The jig seems to be good. I just tested this on some cut birch plywood and had to print out this review. The first time the drill fell out of the spring loaded thing, I don't know, the drill wasn't tight enough in it, so I, a newbie, took a hex wrench to tighten the hex nut that holds the screw in the drill. and the whole drill fell apart into a mess - let me tell you it's impossible to put back together.
