You can connect the top and bottom lights independently so they are on all the time or when you turn on, or the bottom light is on all the time and the top light is on when you flip the switch .

I watched a YouTube video showing how to connect a 7 pin rocker switch. This is better than expected as it lights up along with the dashboard as well as a second indicator light when the switch is flipped on. I used the instrument panel lighting signal on the back of the radio.

Very nice switch. I bought a couple of these labeled for different lighting fixtures I have installed on my John Deere Gator. They don't come with wiring instructions, but you can find a video on how to wire it on YouTube. I like the way they look.

Switch works great, the only criticism is the light. The one I received has "Motor Fan" written with no spaces under the icon, which places it almost in the middle of the switch rather than a little closer to its bottom. Therefore, when the dashboard light is on, the bottom bar is very bright and the writing is faint and the word FAN is lighter than ENGINE. Cosmetically, it's a bit annoying. If the wording was like the picture, with spaces in between, that would probably be better.
