Worth the investment

They work great! I installed them to replace worn factory stays on a '07 Nissan Frontier. The work took about an hour per side. Most of the time was spent fighting the spring compressor, but that was the hardest part. I chose the medium ride height. I found it got me closer to 2 inches than 1 but I'm very happy with it.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • There are nuances

Good, but error-prone.

Make sure they are assembled correctly. Visit the Owners Group/Forum on the web to find issues others have experienced. Xterra requires the use of standard shock parts for assembly and installation. Don't let the mechanic throw away the old assembly. Once fitted correctly they ride well and firm up somewhat after about a week of use. I'm looking forward to getting 1" lift blocks for the rear so I can raise the suspension just 1". Although it will require reconfiguration.

Fits 2005 Nissan Frontier NISMO!

Ideal for 2005 Nissan Frontier Nismo. They are valved for a better and stiffer ride on lifted vehicles. I replaced my Bilstein 4600 series struts with these Bilstein 5100 series struts. They make a huge difference in ride quality and allow you to either maintain stock height or adjust (via an external locking ring) up to 2 inches of total travel. These struts are designed to use factory coil springs. or lightweight aftermarket springs. They DO NOT come with coil springs, strut bushings, strut…

BIG IMPROVEMENT JUST BE CAREFUL

Great product, improved ride and feel. I only installed in the front, and now the back is easier, I'll install it in the back soon. I've read that many people have installed them incorrectly, so be very careful when installing. After not compressing my springs at home, I took the strut assembly to the guys for them to replace. I gave them directions and they looked at me like I was an idiot and said "I think my tech knows how to install them" so I said ok I read a lot of people get them wrong…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Hard to say

5 stars for ride quality, but READ other people's advice before installing.

So they also fit Nissan Frontiers 09-15. The PN is the same as on the Bilstein homepage. I installed it myself using a rented rack compressor. The instructions are abysmal and I didn't adjust the bottom shim properly to prevent the shock from floating in the spring retainer. Many people have made this mistake and it's easy to do. When using the supplied aluminum shim damper without the appropriate washer, the shim got stuck in the rubber spring mount and the damper rumbled. Another hour on the…
