The learning experience is worth double the price!

The internal antenna board was broken at the NMO PIN. Once I restored continuity, the coils flexed to the next track on 50 watt VHF. There isn't much room in the fairing, but it's enough for a larger caliber reel. I will not be returning, I received 1.1:1 UHF and will work on VHF until it gets better.

Pros
  • Feature: Strong magnetic base; Antenna foot mount: NMO mount; Antenna cable: 5m RG58/U cable; Cable connector: UHF PL259 connector;
Cons
  • Only available in black

Do not buy. Very high SWR. May damage the radio.

I measured the SWR (Standard Test Method for Suitability for Use) of this antenna. In most FM segments (range 134-174) the ratio was 9:1 or worse. It was only safe to use between 142.25 and 143.206 MHz. Outside this range your radio may be damaged. I didn't measure the UHF part because the failure of the VHF is enough to deflect this antenna.

Pros
  • Compatible with Ham Radios, Ham Radios, FRS GMRS Radios: BTECH, ICOM, Kenwood, Midland, Yaesu, TYT, AnyTone, Radioddity, Cobra, Uniden, President, Galaxy Audio, Pro Trucker, Stryker;
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

PRODUCT PARTIALLY DEFECTIVE

This product is advertised to operate in the VHF and UHF ham radio bands. This antenna worked as it should in the 400-470MHz range. The antenna is defective in the 136-174 MHz range. When tested with a branded wattmeter, the meter shows that more than half of the transmitter output power is reflected back to the radio, which can damage the radio if it is used further.

Pros
  • Frequency range: VHF 136-174 MHz, UHF 400-470 MHz;
Cons
  • Defective

The performance you expect for so little.

Exactly what you expect. It's not the best antenna, but you're most likely looking for a way to hide it or, in my case, so your car doesn't look too high. You won't reach the outstations, but sometimes you can hear them over the noise. The magnet is really bad. but mine is built in to protect it from the wind. these things. If you like a clean install you will have to drill a giant hole or cut the end and attach a new one after threading the wire through. And my solution for those clunky…

Pros
  • Accessories and consumables
Cons
  • Very expensive
