This is a fun cleaner. It doesn't clean up. Carpet requires pre-treatment. The tank consumption is low. I regret that I bought this expensive "white elephant". I'm restoring my old Hoover. It leaks but covers the carpet in a third of the time this Bissell takes.

Pros
  • *Cleaning results based on ASTM F2828 using BISSELL PRO MAX Clean + Protect formula versus Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 carpet cleaner at its best selling formula.
Cons

Expensive but good cleaner

Good cleaner. It pulls hair off the carpet and has great suction power. The hand vacuum cleaner is good and sucks well. I used to do spot cleaning. The tank is small, so if you're working in a large area, you'll have to stop constantly to replenish supplies. The vacuum cleaner itself is heavy so maneuvering it can be difficult depending on the area being cleaned. The portable device is a bit heavy but easier to handle. Overall a good cleaner. A bit pricey in my opinion, but worth it given the…

Pros
  • Removes over 90% of odor causing bacteria. Use with the BISSELL Deep Clean + Antibacterial formula.
Cons
  • Some errors

Don't Believe Consumer Reports

This is CR's top rated carpet cleaner. I thought it was an amazing idea. I gave away my Bissell portable pet vacuum because it fits both. I found the power pack mounted on top of the roller brushes made it difficult to manoeuvre, especially around furniture. He interfered with checking when cleaning the cleaning liquid. I returned the unit and bought Bissell Proheat 2x Pet Carpet Cleaner. I love it. I clean pet stains better than anything I've used. It even removed stains that professionals…

Pros
  • EdgeSweep Brushes. Deep cleaning of baseboards and around furniture.
Cons
  • Something different

IMPRESSIVE! This thing is AWESOME

I had an old Bissell Pro-Heat, maybe 18 years old, that didn't dry the carpet well - then it started to overheat and left black stains on the carpet! So I bought this ProHeat 2X Lift Off Pet Carpet Cleaner based on consumer reports that this model is the BEST at removing water and "drying" the carpet. Check out the difference. Dirty spots are gone. The black spots are gone! This took about 8-10 minutes. And yes, it does make the carpet much drier - MUCH better than the old model. I made a good…

Pros
  • heatwave technology. Helps maintain water temperature throughout the cleaning process.
Cons
  • Minor issues

Last week we used this Bissell a few times on the carpet in our house. Very impressive. Cleans surprisingly well. Soaks up water very well. The carpet dries out a few hours after shampooing. Used on carpets and stairs. Easy to use. Always vacuum carpets before use. The system is no more difficult to use than a conventional vacuum cleaner. I want to know when the solution bottle will run out. Maybe there's a way to tell, but I had to check it just to make sure I wasn't just "walking through the…

Pros
  • Professional results. Cleans the best rental car.*
Cons
  • boring packaging

Will not remove water from velor or plush carpets

Reviews for Revain were very positive; Consumer reports ranked it number one. So why did I give 1 star? I have a low pile rug and good thick rugs. When cleaning, I noticed that there was almost no water in the return tank. For deep pet cleaning, the cleaner I bought recommended only rinsing the carpet with water after cleaning and extracting the water. There is no way this cleaner will extract anything other than about a cup of water. I spoke to Bissell support and followed their advice. Do not

Pros
  • Dual DirtLifter PowerBrush. Ten rows of bristles combined with strong suction remove stubborn dirt and stains.
Cons
  • sad packaging

No Rug Doctor, tanks are small but still pretty good

If you don't mind the small tank size, this does a damn good job cleaning carpets. The household neglected the carpet. We replaced the laminate downstairs (finally) but there's still carpet upstairs and it's getting dirty. I danced around the dark spots in the hallway. I was fed up and didn't want to spend $50 to hire a carpet doctor, so spending four times as much and getting a carpet cleaner made sense, right? I bought this Bissell because someone reviewed the vacuum cleaner I was looking at…

Pros
  • Two special tools. The 3" stain remover and crevice tool removes stubborn dirt from stairs, upholstery and hard-to-reach areas.
