These are good old style sockets. I hate cheap, lightweight ones that break. They are durable and have a good weight. My granddaughter loves to play jacks. The red ball that comes with them is actually better than the old ones that used to come with jacks that didn't bounce very well. Instead, we always used a super ball. But the red ball with those jacks has a good rebound, so we don't need another ball.

I have chosen a highly rated set of three individually wrapped balls and jacks. The settings are gold and silver and do not appear to be lead but are of the appropriate weight. The balls are symmetrical, there are no glued uneven balls. I haven't tried improving my 83 year old's hand-eye coordination yet, but I plan to do so in the near future. My third graders never played boys! Growing up in the 50's and 60's I enjoyed playing jacks and I wanted my students to have the same experience.
