Deformed blank for knives, spare parts and accessories

Damask pattern turned out to be of decent quality. I did not check carefully because the very obvious warping and flexing of the blank put me off promoting this product. I returned it. If I had the ability to heat and straighten a bent billet, I could forge it from scratch, but I don't. That's why I bought it to start with.

Okay, but look at it carefully!

Generally a pretty good blank. But mine came with 3 small cracks in the middle and 1 on what ended up being the stem of my pen, noticed too late to change my design. If I had noticed this sooner I could have flipped it over to the other side and cut off a little delamination, but I didn't. I will be buying 1 more soon and doing a MUCH closer inspection this time.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Slightly torn

The steel broke and started to delaminate while my son was making the knife.

My son, who has made quite a few knives, was working with this damascus steel and found a crack in it that was starting to delaminate. The knife was damaged. The steel is due to be replaced by Poshland Knives, but the deadline for returning Revain products is tomorrow, which is Sunday. This was a very disappointing Christmas present from me to my son.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Not everything fits

At least its hand tool steel

Out of the box my damascus steel billet was well oiled and was the style I ordered which was good but that's the end of it. What wasn't great was that the 1.5mm bit into the steel on its own. in about 4 places the fact that the steel bar was visibly warped when viewed from the side and the cuts on the short ends of the bar were slightly jagged to a dangerous extent. would not recommend.

Pros
  • Easy Install

Do your research: knife blades

This is an amazing piece of damask. You do need a forge, however, so you can straighten it if it's crooked. If it delaminates you can weld it back together with borax. Guys, you learn before you start a project. Damask must be acid etched to create a pattern after processing. I darkened my instant coffee. That's why it's darker than in the example picture. Before buying, watch a video about the materials you will work with. This was my first damask knife.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • nothing here

Five stars for knives, parts and accessories

This was a great template, easy to work with and was a good quality steel. He responded well to putting in coffee. This is real Damascus. One of the reviews said the drawing was "polished." If you "sand" or more likely sand down the damask pattern, you will need to etch it again to get the pattern back. The damask pattern is created by how each type of steel reacts to the acid in what you are pickling. No etching, no pattern! Please do not tick if you do not have the knowledge to secure yourโ€ฆ
