Well made product, the best cap I have ever seen. However, this is intended for a 4x4 metal frame and not a 4x4 wood frame. You need to build the top of the post if it's wood.

The primer on them was so good people might think they didn't need to paint them. However, a primer is just a primer. I painted them light gray inside and out to match my patio. They fit perfectly in my steel bars. You will be there for a long time. Replace the cheap plastic parts the builder used that broke and fell apart. I can't say anything about longevity. They feel like real steel. I hope they last a long time with a fresh coat of paint.

I needed these caps for my next project but couldn't find them at my local hardware store because they were out of stock. I have them Received in a few days and finished painting the gate before it started raining. They fit any 4" metal bar. My main gate posts were a quarter" thick and the rest of the posts were .120 thick. Be sure to frame them that way to prime or paint ASAP as they will rust outside if exposed to the elements.I would not recommend them for wooden poles as the actual size of…
