Does what it says, protects the cables under the frame. But I've never reached the bottom with my bike. I was close because of the unexpectedly high combination of curb and pothole. if you go that far you will fall .but . Another example: I was on a forest path and a big stick. a log almost jumped out from under me and hit the wires, but it didn't hurt them. that's why i bought this.
