My batteries have been charged since I bought them. It's been a few months and I haven't charged them. Mind you, I'm a semi-busy person who only plays about an hour a day, and I have a lot of systems, so it's not like I've been playing for a month straight. I found the fact that the batteries lasted so long and still work without recharging worth revising. Also worth noting is that the included charging cable is fantastic, being the same length as the original cable that Microsoft used to sell.

1 Battery lasted 2 1/2 years of heavy use before giving up the ghost. The other still holds a charge to this day, but also turned out to be one that wasn't quite as firmly seated in the controller. I no longer wanted to use AA batteries for my Xbox 360 controller. I saw it and it's exactly what I wanted. I don't have to leave the gamepad plugged in to charge them as it comes with a separate charger that plugs directly into the Xbox or a wall outlet if you have an extra adapter. Bought two of these sets. One of the batteries was already swollen while being charged with the MS x360 fast charger (official charger, not Bonacell). Looking at the specs of the chargers, I think that might be the reason. The included Bonacell charger is very slow. Output 3V 300mA. So I think they might be ok if you just use the Bonacell charger. There are not many worthy analogues of this controller at the moment, since the controller model is somewhat outdated. Update 9/5/18: After I posted my first review describing the faulty items, the seller contacted me and offered to send a replacement, to solve the problem. The package arrived within a few days. The new charger works as described and I was able to charge the batteries in the kit. Everything has powered my controllers well so far.
