Good understanding for younger students

I bought it for my granddaughter to have a look. It also helped her read because it piqued her interest. The story is both heartbreaking and uplifting, and it will leave readers with a renewed appreciation for the power of friendship and human connection.

Pros
  • Both heartbreaking and uplifting, this story will make readers reevaluate the power of friendship and human connection.
Cons
  • Distorts historical events to tell his story

Useless for children, young for adults

The story itself isn't bad, but it was written for young people who wouldn't understand what the book is about without guidance. I read the book long before I realized "Fury" was "Fuhrer (Hitler)" and got even further before realizing that "Out With" was "Auschwitz" was. Neither the term was ever clarified, nor was the purpose of the camp explained. And the tragic ending would mean absolutely nothing to the young reader. I have no idea why a book should be written for young readers in a formโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Highly recommended. A unique insight into life back then.
Cons
  • Trying to profit from the suffering of others

Excellent commemorative book

Surprise ending Something I will think about for a long time. Absolutely touching and thought provoking, quick and enjoyable to read

Pros
  • We bought for a school project. My son loved this book so much he read it through in about 3 days.
Cons
  • Downplays the seriousness of Nazi crimes against humanity.

Some parts of world history were good, but this book covers other parts. PLEASE DO NOT LET CHILDREN READ THIS BOOK WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS. means treating people the way THEY would like to be treated. As an older person, I was taught a long time ago that not everyone is like me, which is good because I know I'm not perfect, but the leaders of countries around the world are worse.

Pros
  • Excellent conditions! Arrived a week earlier than expected. Very satisfied
Cons
  • Uses reductionist narrative

Great book, my review

I bought this book for my 13 year old granddaughter. She enjoys reading and loves history books. She liked this book so much that she read it twice in two weeks.

Pros
  • The book was good!
Cons
  • Ignoring real events in favor of fiction

DEEP HARD... in my opinion

This book about the Holocaust is written in the style of a fable, a story designed to teach a lesson. This works without a doubt. I liked it. The narrator is a nine-year-old boy, the son of a high-ranking German commander in Nazi Germany. Naive and speaking in a voice that seems younger than his years and perhaps represents the naivety of the German people, he is the one telling the unfolding story. Events take an unexpected turn when he befriends a Jewish boy of the same age who is being heldโ€ฆ

Pros
  • The Boy in the Striped Pajamas has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Irish Book Award for Children's Book of the Year.
Cons
  • Ignore the contribution of the anti-Nazi resistance fighters.

knowledge of war history

A very beautiful and sad book. A period of time that everyone should read and know. One should always remember that it could happen again. We need to know about this.

Pros
  • El aprendizaje de mi hija
Cons
  • I was very surprised that pages 59 to 90 were printed upside down. It is very confusing.

I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I loved Bruno, he had such a big heart, he was such a good boy. Its a story but i need more spoilers i hate the ending how it just ends! I need to know a lot more! This story could be much longer!

Pros
  • I've already read it, it's not bad.
Cons
  • There are too few nuances in the portrayal of Nazi Germany.

Phenomenal reading! in my opinion

First, the book arrived in perfect condition. Second this. A book. Is. So good! I am a 13 year old girl and loved this book. It's so touching and yet so heartbreaking. Every line in this book kept me in suspense. great read and would definitely recommend to friends.

  • Good book, but this is one of those rare instances where the movie is better!
Cons
  • Suppresses critical thinking by presenting a simplified narrative

Wonderfully heavy read

I love the simplicity of this book. It's captivating from start to finish. The ending makes me sad and angry at the same time. We have no idea how close we are.

Pros
  • I absolutely live with this book. I would recommend.
Cons
  • The reviews don't refer to the novel itself...but this book wasn't at its best.

Pages 91-154 are missing!

Bought this book for my daughter last year. She told me the book didn't make sense. Reading it now I see it's a great book but a terrible copy! Our copy was missing more than 50 pages! This is a review of the copy Revane sent us, not a review of the book.

Pros
  • I had to read the book "Read America".
Cons
  • Discrimination against Holocaust survivors

Injustice!

A terrible injustice to the Holocaust! The first 6 chapters hummed non-stop, repeating the same information over and over until your mind went numb and not even remotely explained anything. what happened in the concentration camp in his backyard or what his father did. Some of the events in the book were left to the reader's imagination rather than being a lesson, however depressing they may be. The whole holocaust was covered up and the book is more of a story about the everyday life of little

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some little things

Heartbreaking and beautifully written

Bruno is 9 years old. His father has a cool job, he is responsible for many things. It's a big compound with a huge wire fence and lots of people - men and boys - on the other side. They're skinny, they work hard, they're all very dirty, they're all wearing what looks like striped pajamas. There are soldiers who poke and laugh at men and boys. Bruno overheard his parents' conversation and knows that his father's boss, "Fury", arranged the move to a new home. Bruno's older sister tells him thisโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

Story of two innocent boys.

The story of the son of a Nazi commander and an innocent Jewish boy is absolutely amazing and full of tragedy that could bring tears to some. It talks about Nazi and Jewish perspectives, which gives us many opportunities to look at what the book is based on: the Holocaust. The book is absolutely heartbreaking, filled with an emotional story and bond between two boys. The book was published by John Boyne on January 5, 2006 and belongs to the historical fiction genre.
