This was a simple solution to a very annoying problem. I bought two lamps but wanted larger lampshades. The base was not standardized and no styles fit, including harps. This comes in a variety of sizes and the largest nozzle fits perfectly. I finally realized that to hold this part I had to unscrew the ring at the base. The problem is solved and the large shadows are in place.

I replaced the lampshade with a lampshade that was slightly longer than the original. This cradle is mounted on an L-shaped piece, which I didn't take into account for the new lampshade. I like the new lampshade, but it had to be fixed a few inches above the stand's top screw. That works fine. (It comes with multiple nozzles for different sizes. Others may have no problem.)
