Breville BES840XL/A

So far so good. We use this every day because "regular" coffee is so boring. :) My wife makes the perfect cappuccino and I make a mocha out of it. Sometimes we use it 4 times a day and it's holding up great. 3 December 2018 Review amended: DO NOT BUY Breville products. This coffee maker suddenly stopped working and the customer service is terrible. We contacted them and they told us that the reason it doesn't work is because the coffee is ground too fine. It's funny. Since we bought this POS I…

Infuser stopped working after only 1 month!

For some reason I wanted to return this item before my 30 days were up. My husband, who doesn't drink espresso, persuaded me to keep it because he knows I love espresso. Wouldn't you believe that the infusor sensor stopped working? It no longer fits into the espresso range. I only use this machine twice a week. How could it stop working properly after just over a month? I wish I had followed my first thought and sent this $500 car back! So I'm totally disappointed in Breville because he's put…

If you like latte or espresso every morning

Hi everyone, I bought this in 2013. I used to have a brevel. They pass steam rings. I knew this, I had an ESP8xl that lasted 7 years of daily use. He would eat the steam ring (which seals the cup you pour coffee into) every year or so. This unit is the same and blew the steam ring last year. I ordered 2 steam rings last year. Well, Breville's support got to the bottom. They were detained for 3 weeks. Then when they finally sent one, they only sent one. I have sent an E-Mail. No steam ring. Note

good car nothing for absolute beginners

i've been making espresso at home for a few years. I started with Saeco Poemia, which I bought refurbished from Seattle Coffee Gear. It has served me well for the last 2 years but I felt I could always do better. Shots were decent, especially after I bought a bottomless portafilter for Saeco. It really improved the quality of the recordings. On the Breville Infuser. I've had this car for a few months now and I can say it's a category above my old Saeco. The Sudanzeige is a gift from God! This…

CAN (NOT) BE REPAIRED after the warranty period

First of all I like this car. I have had a BES820 for several years. A small piece of hose or connector broke a few years ago, but a local repair shop who could buy parts from Breville at the time fixed it and it's been a champ ever since. So I got another one for our country house. So far, so good. But now the BES820 has broken again and I found out that due to a policy change it is NO LONGER REPAIRABLE because they don't sell parts to repair shops. That's a lot of resources to go down the…

Do not buy! Questions about quality and durability.

Purchased on 7/15/15 at Revain.com. After about 9 months the machine started making a strange electrical hum when brewing (most likely due to the solenoid valve) and water started seeping from under the machine - so much that it was dripping off the rack onto the floor. A year later (June 2016), just before the factory warranty expired, Breville replaced the unit (unfortunately they only replace refurbished units, not new ones). The company representative asked me if I cleaned and descaled…

Good value for money

This is probably the best espresso machine for beginners, but a few tips will help you on your way to a good espresso machine: 1) Descaling should NOT depend on warning lights. Descale every month, especially if you have hard water, with or without the cleaning indicator light. The same applies to deleting a group. The owner's manual doesn't say so, but online Breville recommends descaling once a month (no mention of harshness or warning lights)! Thermal coils are extremely sensitive to…

Don't waste your time on cheaper machines

When I started this I had no idea how to make espresso. I've been using a French Press for years and decided to up my coffee game a little. This review is for those who are considering this machine and have no idea what they are doing. Keep in mind that I paired this machine with a Breville Smart Grinder Pro, which is important in this review. I recommend a grinder as an add-on to this espresso machine. **Why you should buy this machine over the cheaper ones** To put it simply, this coffee…
