Breville BSG600BSS Panini Press Silver Review

I bought this in a treasure wagon. When I first received the text about this product, I wondered if I really needed it. I then compared the price of what I would pay and what it actually costs. I decided to buy it and use it everyday to make sandwiches for breakfast. I stop going to expensive restaurants when I can make them at home. It's heavy and looks like it will last for years.

This is misleading. When you think of panini, you think of Grill Marks, but that's not what you're getting with this one. The style of the grill is totally flat so you get more of what you envision like grilled cheese or pressed sandwiches and NOT "panini". It would have been nice if Breville demonstrated this in photos of the finished product, rather than just focusing on making sure the sandwich doesn't get mashed. OMG great buy! I can grill cheese on this thing like no other! As soon as it warms up, dinner in 5 minutes! I love that it doesn't crush the cheese and is incredibly easy to clean! Even if the cheese oozes and starts to brown on the surface, it rubs off like it's just water! I will never reheat a sandwich any other way. From open roast beef used as an open feature to reheating leftover sandwiches from a restaurant, this thing does it all quickly, easily and cleanly!

I really liked this sandwich press for the three months it has been working. He did a great job with a variety of sandwiches. It heats up quickly and was easy to clean. He didn't crush your sandwich (unless you did it on purpose). But mine broke in the middle of cooking. Contacting Breville (via their own website) to try and get warranty service proved useless. They just don't answer. While it was great I don't recommend it. I wish it would work, but it's difficult when the manufacturer doesn't

Update: OMG. How embarrassing. I totally forgot that I didn't turn on the switch. Gak! When my idiocy was discovered, the press worked perfectly. And yes, the sandwich was delicious. Sorry Breville, I have to apologize and give a well deserved 5 stars! That was great. Another Breville superfood. It was easy to use. Maybe only 20-30 times. And never abused. These grilled cheese sandwiches were delicious. But today I connected it and nothing. Nadda. ZIP code No light. There is no heat. It's toast

Don't be mad, it's a quote from The Other Guys (2010) but seriously, this kid gets hot FAST. At first I thought it was too small, but it cooks (bakes? fries? cooks panini?) panini so quickly that I realized I didn't need a larger size. There's a joke in here somewhere about size and holding back judgment until you see what you can do with it, but that's low-hanging (high-hanging?) fruit. This compact, easy to store and easy to clean little device is the best I've ever needed. Thanks to Treasure

See below for the second update on the same day. Original Review: My Breville Panny Press arrived a few days ago. Well packaged, easy to understand. Made delicious ham. Today a sandwich with cheese and Italian bread. Perfectly crispy and evenly browned on the outside and right on the inside and so easy! Good thing there are no ridges on the plates.
