I should have read other reviews about it before buying. Doesn't hold suction. the sample is not very large. the liquid just goes away. To make it work you have to tilt it and put your finger on the hole at the bottom. Not a big process. I will use and seek other avenues to obtain samples for hydrometer testing. Shame and shame.

The only reason I give this two stars and not one is because the steel is high quality. Now for the bad. First, the reason you bought it. things to suck. Well, the suction is pretty poor and tends to drip a bit. The entire inside of the sampler was then covered in dark oil which was still black on the paper towels I rubbed after 5 washes.

I bought this because stainless steel retains far less bacteria than plastic turkey fat. However, it does not hold the suction power well. The liquid (wine in this case) doesn't just flow out. it disappears I can get around this by quickly tilting it backwards to save some liquid. I wanted to try and avoid the glass thief as it would probably break due to my clumsiness. I see that there are plastic thieves. I guess I'll just have to get one and replace it from time to time to avoid…

I usually say glass is king, from bottles to electronic screens, but to my thief, steel is king. Two glass thieves smashed me, but this thief was indestructible and as easy to disinfect as I can imagine for this huge creature. However, I have big fingers like a mortal and had to squeeze the top to maintain proper suction.
