I love Brother MFC devices. I have owned nothing but Brother products for the past 15 years. Unfortunately this one died 5 weeks after purchase (and 1 week after Revain does not accept returns). I called Brother customer service. They referred me to a 'local' authorized repair center (50 miles isn't really 'local'). The authorized repair center told me to call Brother customer service and ask for a refund because "to be honest Brother should take responsibility and give you a new one"…

Easy setup, good features for the price

I looked at many products and reviews before deciding on this multifunction printer/scanner. I'm sick of how all home inkjet printers seem to fail right after buying new ink, and of course the models that are available after death use a different ink cartridge. I wanted a two-sided scanner to scan invoices, financial statements, and other documents. We're hoping that with this model, using a second scanner to scan both sides at once is a good solution instead of swiping the page a second time…

Easy setup and printing from mobile devices.

Day 1, Hour 1: Able to print from both Android and iPhone without installing any software or apps right out of the box. Added only power, paper and starter toner. I wasn't impressed with the image quality, but I printed the image in mobile format. When I print Word documents or text I can tell the quality is there as the letters are crisp and precise. The machine draws a lot of power, so the lights in my home office would flicker after I turned it on or started printing; so I'll probably turn…

This dog scans just terribly - everything wrong. I knew this from other people's reviews and don't really need the scans for anything other than references (so I don't have all the paper taking up space), but still - there's no excuse for this if it's a known issue. Another issue is that the default print quality, while good, is lighter/less dense than I'm used to. Others have noticed this, but there is a standard solution. To correct the default print quality, FOR THIS JOB ONLY: Insert your…

    Better than expected

After reading many reviews about this printer and a similar model on the OfficeDepot website I didn't want to buy this printer. My Canon Pixma printer failed after 3 years and I had had bad experiences with both Epson and HP. I knew Brother was a respected brand but I had never owned one of their printers. I'm happy to think I made the decision to write. If I have any issues with the printer over time I will update this review but so far I have nothing negative to say. Installation took about…

Adjustment required for best scan quality

I used to have an Epson GT-1500 office scanner. After serving me for 4 years, it becomes incompatible with the latest Widows 10 update. I don't know if it's Epson's fault or Microsoft's. Anyway, I decided to get a new scanner. One feature the GT-1500 lacks is automatic single-pass duplex scanning. I scan and digitize as many documents as possible, so this is an important and useful feature. That's one of the reasons I chose this Brother multifunction machine. Since I scan my documents to PDF in

I use my home office printer very rarely these days, so I can't comment on all the features and performance of this printer in that regard. . I had a lot of experience with a Brother MFC-4500 ML multifunction laser printer which I bought in the early 1990's and have used extensively for over 10 years with no problems. I'd probably still use it if someone makes a decent USB parallel printer device that supports all MFC features. This excellent performance from my trusty old Brother MFC-4500 made
