Three stars because I can use my favorite pen in it, but that's only because it's a very comfortable pen. Even a normal felt-tip pen is too big to fit in here. But for the price it was worth it. Most craft stores sell them for $30, I paid half that amount. I want to be able to use markers without buying thinner ones that fit the size. So if you don't use very thin pens, get some with that and you'll be fine.

Not very versatile, many of my thick and thin pens don't fit. I put masking tape around the stems of the thin pins so they don't get in the way of the thin ones. The spring mechanism is quite difficult to use as others have pointed out. But I'm glad I got it and have used it a lot and mostly it works fine and I'm glad I have options for different types of pens. I think the purchase is definitely worth it. You can also increase the draw pressure, making it even more versatile.

Maybe I'll send out Christmas cards this year! I can make about one card in nice handwriting, and after that each one gets messier than the last until I stop writing on the cards and throw the whole deck away. Now I can beautifully print a message, then scan it, load the mat I want to write the message on, and fill out multiple postcards or postcards at once. Imagine using it for kids birthday invitations, bulk signing cards, cute wall art, the possibilities are amazing.

product description says universal pen holder is not correct. I ordered 180 gel pens and waited for the price of the universal pen holder to go down and when it did I ordered very excited - but when I received it all my pens fell out of the other end of the pen holder - failed. Brother "says" that you can add tape to make them fit, but do you really think I'll pack 180 pens?! I just received the Brother Scanncut CAUniPHL1 universal pen holder. I read the instructions and tried 9 different types of markers in my craft kit. UPDATE AGAIN. Brother has posted a fix on the Facebook Scancut USA YouTube page. Firstly, do not throw away information about the instructions and do not throw away the packaging that contains the UPH, which also has instructions on the back. The solution is to take a Bic pen, or a pen that is too thin for the UPH, and line it up with the pen size…
