It took 5 minutes to unpack the meter and insert the batteries with the screwdriver provided. I turned it on, checked the temperature and lux readings in several rooms of our home, and confirmed the accuracy with the current various meters. That works great! I'm looking forward to starting flower seeds next season and this is just what I need for consistent healthy growth.

This is a good little light meter, relatively cheap but with a lot of features. My goal is to use it to measure the solar radiation at the locations of solar systems. The max/min hold functions are a big plus. Of course I still have to do some math, but I just can't win for this money. (Includes case, batteries, and even a screwdriver for the battery cover.)

I have Karen next door who installed 150w LED spotlights so I was able to email the Enforcement Director saying the lighting was not up to par.

At noon in bright sunlight at 6,000 feet in New Mexico, held perpendicular to the sun, it measures 104,200 lux, which is accurate. However, the temperature sensor deviates by a few degrees. If you turn it off and on again, it doesn't remember what temperature unit was last set and defaults to Celsius. All other functions seem to work fine. It can also be reset to zero for more accurate readings in low light. This device measures lux, not lumens!

Unfortunately, the title speaks for itself. I needed this device for the specified "PAR meter" function, which this device does not have. PAR and LUX are two very different ways of measuring light. I use LED lights and LUX meters are horribly inaccurate with LED lights so they usually read a lot more or less than what your little plants are actually getting. It was an easy to use device. So if you use grow lights *other than* LEDs or if you do NOT need PAR readings I'm sure it's a great device.
