My ears are so happy I bought this.

About a week ago I installed this new skimmer in my 200 gallon setup. I immediately noticed how much quieter it is than my old skimmer. I only know it's on at all because it makes blisters! With just a few tweaks we got the bubble flow right and my fish are happier than ever! Very satisfied!

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • No paint required

Remove the protective film from the top of the cover

Initial performance was poor. Eventually it turned out that the problem was in the foil on the lid blocking all the vent holes! Invisible until I had a reason to clean the lid. After the foil was removed, the pump was able to produce the expected volume of bubbles and foam, and performance improved significantly. Now works well for a 100 gallon reef tank with a 20 gallon sump. Good bang for the buck compared to other options.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Not all fit

Overall good but more depth sensitive than I thought

This skimmer has been up and running for about 3-4 weeks now and it's working well but not as well as I expected. A depth of 8-11 inches is recommended, but at a depth of 8 inches the results are not very good. I had to modify my sump to raise the level to around 10.5 and even then I was surprised it still wasn't wet. Your swamp, you might want to keep looking. I think the build quality is good and the build is simple enough but just sensitive to that kind of depth!

  • Finally bought

This skimmer is freaking cool. It fits in the tight space in my .

This skimmer is damn cool. It fit in the tight space in my cesspool. The way the pump mounts inside the base rather than outside makes it much easier to move and set up. Even more impressive is that it's completely silent. I didn't even think it worked until I realized it was full of bubbles. No splash, no suction noise from the air intake. It comes with a drain tube for the drip tray which I wanted to make myself but they made it for us. I've had it running for less than a week and it's…

Pros
  • Good workmanship

  • Poor instructions

Set up was pretty easy with youtube videos

I've been using Bubble Magus Curve 7 for about 2 weeks now. Setup was pretty easy, with the help of a YouTube video. The instructions themselves are difficult to understand, but that shouldn't be a problem if you have a basic understanding of how a protein skimmer works. The footprint isn't too big compared to most skimmers in the 185-gallon range. I wiped it off and put it in the swamp and immediately produced an ugly scum. I use it on my 160 birds and refill the drip tray about every 3-4…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Skimmer awarded - at work

Skimmer awarded - at work. The pump they send along while the magnetic drive sucks. I ended up replacing it with another one I had lying around. I'm not sure if I just have an ass pump or something, but there was some kind of short circuit and the pump was turning on and off every few minutes. Another problem is that the air intake is too close to the lid, which has overflow holes. So if you forget to empty the drip tray and an overflow occurs, your awesome brown salty mud will enter the air…

  • Fingers crossed

easy to set up and works

This is the third skimmer I have owned in the last 20 years. The last one required an air pump and a rock/block to create little bubbles (awesome, I have Don Ho in mind now) and a separate water pump. It will run for about a week without reconfiguration as the air stone gradually clogs. I gave it up a few years ago. It was a dream compared to my previous one. The instructions could have been clearer, but Google knows everything, so that wasn't a problem, and there aren't many details and…

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Great super quiet skimmer

Bought this skimmer a while back but only recently put it into service due to building a new 75 gallon seawater tank. I've had it for about a month now. I have never owned a skimmer so I cannot compare to other brands. When I was looking for skimmers I wanted a very quiet and reliable skimmer. I have compared several skimmers and read various reviews on Bulk Reef Supply, Marine Depot and other sites. I chose this one because it's in the middle for the price (not too expensive, but not too cheap
