This worked for every single drive.

And some of these discs were about 30 years old. Imagine plugging in a hard drive with a capacity of less than 100 megabytes, turning on the adapter and instantly recognizing it. There was literally only one old spare drive that I couldn't recover data from and that was due to the spindle getting stuck/jamming in the drive. LOVE this adapter. Note that for many older drives it is useful to look up the old jumper settings online. There are free websites that specialize in this type of…

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to it
Cons
  • A lot

For some reason I'm trying to recover data from old media, an Iomega Zip drive using iomega's backup program used. which only works on XP 32-bit and earlier and on the Onstream DI-30 Digital Disc. Both companies have gone out of business so I don't have new drivers (latest updates around 2006). Booth drives are IDE and show up as "working" in Windows 10 when installed with an internal IDE->PCIe adapter. But the software doesn't run and I can't see the drives in the virtual machine (Hyper-V…

Well built, solid and reliable

Over the years I have used many different adapters to connect my old IDE and SATA hard drives to my PCs. Most of them were cheaply made and most of the time I wondered if they would reliably transfer my files. This time I decided to spend a few bucks more for a better device and I'm glad I did. I successfully transferred over 2.5TB of data from my old hard drive to my new computer using this adapter. To check data transfer integrity, I used TeraCopy (freeware) to transfer and check all files…

after firmware update it works fine

UPDATE 03/24/2020 - Applied the updated firmware to both devices and now they work! Apparently the bug was that the device couldn't tell if it was connected to a USB 3.0 or 2 port. In fact, I was able to partially boot the Win 95 disk on two different computers! Even when booting into Win 10 and Linux I can now read all my drives through the USB 3 interface. Without their programmer/update app it's impossible to determine the firmware version of your device so I hope they use their update…

Does what it's supposed to do

Recently I was faced with the task of extracting data from several hard drives of different ages. I took the risk and ordered this device. I connected the hard drives to the device and the device to the laptop. It was pretty painless. He read most discs with no problems. He couldn't read a floppy disk, I'm sure this is because the floppy disk itself is defective and not the device. Build quality is decent and should hold up to normal use for a while. However, it is not intended for long-term…
