Works exactly as it should

I found some old hard drives that I needed to find out what's on them. There were different types and this device worked for all of them. It was also nice that it came with its own power adapter so I didn't accidentally have to unplug one of the computer's power cords from the case to connect it to power. Very good product and it works exactly as intended. The box it came in is pretty sturdy too so I keep it there for future use.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Worked well after some initial glitches

I bought this primarily for use with multiple laptop hard drives (2.5"). Power and it was visible to the computer, but it accidentally disconnected. I thought the unit was defective, but with 5400rpm drives it worked fine even without an additional power supply. On the second try with a 7200 rpm drive it worked perfectly even without additional power. I have yet to try it with a 3.5" drive, but so far it's worked pretty well apart from initial issues with a 2.5" 7200rpm drive. Transfer speeds…

This is a great little product

This is a great little product if you want to spice up your drives on your desk. Nothing is more boring when everything looks the same on your table because only this color is offered. That's what makes it so great, it looks different and you don't pay to have it in color. The light is bright enough, but doesn't bother you when you're working with the lights off. It works just as hard as any other brand and the case is very durable. I would have known I'd dropped mine more than once. The only…

Suitable for desktop or laptop

This adapter comes with a 12V power supply. You must use the AC adapter with the laptop. Notebook power supplies do not provide enough power to operate the adapter without a power supply. Desktop computers do not have this problem. The desktop power supply has enough voltage and current to power the hard drive. Bottom line, this adapter works great to turn an old hard drive into an external hard drive. The price is very reasonable for what it is and does.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Some small things

Broke the controller card on my 3.5 hard drive

This thing (choose a word for "junk") destroyed my 3.5-6TB hard drive. I took my drive out of a running machine (server) and plugged it into my laptop to create a system image (using the external power supply provided). The laptop showed the device was repeatedly connected and disconnected, 6TB. After a few minutes, I decided it was better not to use the device and order an external case from a well-known brand. I reconnected it to the server it was originally connected to and now it shows as…

Power supply unit possibly insufficient

I got it in the mail today and tested it quickly. I have 3 WD Yellow 2TB drives and WD Black 1TB drives. I wanted to reuse them with an old laptop for a project so I checked if this USB interface would help. The first drive I plugged in was one of the 2TB drives. I heard the drive spinning and then it kept making a "click-click-click" sound and when I plugged it into the USB port the computer didn't see anything. I tried all the yellow 2TB drives and they all did the same thing. I finally tried
