Description of ๐Ÿ”Œ 6 Pin to 8 Pin PCIe Adapter Power Cable - 4 Inches (Pack of 2) by Cable Matters

6 pin PCIe to 8 PIN PCIe adapter connects a PCIe video card with an 8 pin PCIe connection to a power supply with only 6 pin PCIe power connections; Check that your PSU is rated to power the video graphics card. PSU upgrade 6 pin to 8 pin adapter cable provides an option for connecting a power supply without an 8 pin PCIe connection for GPU power. 8 pin to 6 PIN PCIe adapter cable provides a convenient solution for supplying video graphics card power with an 8 pin connector for GPU cards that require more power. Sturdy graphics card PCIe power cable has an 8 pin male PSU PCIe connector with a latch and a female 6 pin PSU PCIe connector with keyed rails for a secure connection on each end to prevent accidental disconnections. Video graphics card compatible with graphics cards with 8 pin PCIe connectors from popular manufacturers such as Gigabyte, Radeon, and Sapphire

Works perfectly! Use this because my power supply is not working.

Works great! I use this because my PSU doesn't have an 8-pin power connector. Make sure your PSU has a 6-pin connector, plug in the female end of the 6-pin connector (this adapter) and then plug the 8-pin connector into your graphics card (GTX 960 FTW in my case). BOOM!

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Older model

This updated my old system

I have an old basic HP Z800 workstation. It includes multiple 3x3, 6-pin graphics card power supplies. I bought a new graphics card that greatly improves the Z800's capabilities. You will need a 4x4, 8 pin power supply to power the new card. This adapter saved my system and works like a champ! I give him the highest recommendation.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Dear

PCIe 6-pin to 8-pin Adapter (RTX 2060 Super)

This worked great to change the power connector from the 6-pin provided by Dell to the 8-pin used by mine EVGA RTX 2060 Super is required. The quality is simply excellent, all the sockets and plugs in the plug are in the middle and both ends feel right when connected. Check the power supply to make sure it can supply the current required to run your new card; If so, this adapter cable will do what you want.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Exactly what I needed

These 6 to 8 pin adapters were exactly what I needed and more! I really only needed one of these, but for that price I got two! So now I have a spare when it comes time to add another GPU to my family's computer. This adapter was used in a newer model (Core i5-8500) HP Pavilion Desktop. The PSU came with only one PCIE cable, and it was 6-pin. I added this adapter plug to install a GTX 1660 Super. All is well. Nothing burns. Works as it should.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • No Power

It worked with my ASUS GTX 1660 Super OC

Works! My 600W PSU only has 6-pin PCI-e power connectors. However, they all have 3 positive pins as shown by the 3 yellow wires on the cable. This adapter duplicates the ground and detector pins to mimic the operation of an 8-pin connector. When I just connected to the 6-pin connector, it failed to boot gracefully and displayed a message asking me to connect the graphics card to the correct power supply. With this 8 pin adapter boots without error. I actively played on it for several daysโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Crumpled

Suitable if your power supply does not have a suitable connector.

I use 1080Ti graphics cards for power supply, no problems so far. I have an HP Z420 workstation in which I have a 1080Ti GPU installed. My factory PSU only has 2 6-pin PCI-E connectors, while my 1080Ti has a pair of 8-pin connectors. I've used this to connect and everything seems to be working fine. My PSU is 600W so I have enough power and my card runs from 190 to 250W. It should pull 75W through the PCI-E 16x point and the rest through my 6 pins. If I have any problems I will change my rating

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Damn cool and delivered on time

I got a new graphics card and when I needed to connect the power supply I found I didn't have another 8 pin connector to connect! I had two six pin connectors so I looked for an adapter and found them. I ordered them and two days later they arrived and ping pan boom my graphics card is on now and all is right with the world. I went ahead and plugged the other adapter into the other six pin plug I had so I wouldn't lose it should I need it in the future. Just make sure your power supply hasโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • I will add later

Good adapters at a reasonable price

Cable Matters makes decent adapters in this category. Between them and the SATA PCIe adapters I have a "jerky attitude" that would make many system builders swoon. They have withstood many months of use and there is little to no heat under the digital thermometer. If you're familiar with the standard, 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe have the same number of power pins. The -pin connector adds only two ground pins, one of which can act as a touch pin. From an electrical point of view, you shouldn't have any

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Updates

a good solution if you understand the limitations

If you have a smaller 6-pin PCI-e power supply and an 8-pin graphics card, the adapter allows you to PHYSICALLY connect the power supply to the graphics card. Keep in mind that the 6-pin cable is designed to deliver an extra 75W to the card, and using this adapter doesn't magically raise the cap to the actual 8-pin cable, which is an extra 150W. As to what graphics card you can use, you also need to know how much power can be drawn through the PCI-e slot your graphics card is plugged intoโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Rugged Graphics Card PCIe Power Cable has an 8-pin PSU PCIe male connector with a locking mechanism and a 6-pin PSU PCIe female connector with key guides on each end for a secure connection and prevents an accidental disconnection
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
