Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort Converter

I have several Cable Matters products. Always good quality and very reasonable prices. This video output converter works perfectly. It also has a blue LED on the top of the box that lets you know the video signal is being processed through the converter. I love those little extras. Reduces diagnostic time when needed. This is a product worth buying if you are looking for this type of converter. Very happy with the product.

Probably the smartest adapter choice

Feels good, I have no problems with it. I received it and connected it with a DVI to HDMI cable. I've found this to be the most versatile combo for setting up an adapter (cost included). I'm not sure how much it can transfer though. I haven't tried it, but I know what Apple TV is like, and I'm sure a lot of other things can transmit sound and even control other devices (pressing the Apple TV remote turns on the TV and changes the input at the same time) .

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Nothing

Fixed display issues on my Dell

For some reason I've had a working Dell laptop for most of the time that was having trouble connecting to various displays at customer sites. The laptop has a built in HDMI output and many of the displays were native HDMI but for some reason it just didn't work 80% of the time (unreliable connector maybe?). I've only had a chance to use this guy a couple of times, but so far this has fixed the issue. It's a small price to pay to avoid display problems right before an important presentation.

Better elsewhere

So having two pairs of these for my Surface Dock which I use with the Surface Book 2 I can say they are not very good. They don't always block the highest optimal (or specified) resolution, which needs to be reinstalled. Another problem I have is that Windows loses communication with the adapters when Windows turns off the monitors because they have been idle for a long time, or when you lock the computer, causing the monitor to "lose". and any application or window that was on that monitor…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Good for home and travel

Pros: Lightweight Easy to pack Sturdy cable Reliably strong connections Cons: None Tried all connections so far, VGA, HMDI and DVI, all work smoothly with no problems. With constant use, 6+ hours, the device barely feels warm. Doesn't require power and comes with a clear plastic cover that fits over the DisplayPort grommet to keep dirt out, but the output ports don't, but that's not a problem. Note: The connectors used for HDMI, VGA and DVI outputs MUST NOT be used as input ports. The device…

Great addition to my laptop travel bag

I use an MS Surface for docking. I've set everything up in my office, the cables are all nice and tidy, but recently I had to go to a remote location for tech support and I didn't want to take my office setup apart just to take my docking station with me for a little work . . I did this with a monitor screen, but I could actually connect it to a spare monitor at a remote location. Looking at various Microsoft branded interface knick-knacks, I felt like I didn't want to spend so much on…
