I did a lot of work on my old Radio Shack computer with TTL and RS232 devices. These gadgets were very helpful in understanding CTS, RTS and other hardware signals on the line. Cheap and efficient.

I have the 25 pin version that I have used for years with gender bends and adapters. Much easier to use a 9 pin monitor. It's easy to use, lightweight and easy to read. It's great for us dinosaurs who still use RS-232 instead of USB or with a USB to RS-232 cable.

I needed a built in, easy to use and understand test box to test the signals from the control panel to the external RS-232 control port and the installed video projectors. I need to figure out when the projector won't turn on or off from the wall controls, whether it's the wall controls/wiring or the projector - if I call the wrong vendor responsible for the warranty/repair I'll eat up the cost increase for a support call.
